That was a fascinating read as I didn’t know this type of remote surgery existed. It’s obvious a lot of research went into this well-written article. My two cents: Personally, I would never want my doctor anywhere but “in the room” with me for any kind of surgery but I’m sure there are others who aren’t concerned about the distance. I see surgery as too personal for a doctor to be elsewhere, no matter how good the technology is and no matter how routine the surgery may be. Secondly, this remote surgery opens up major medical privacy and “IT” security concerns. The last thing I would want is any part of the IT between the robotics conducting my surgery and my doctor in an off-site location to be compromised or interfered with, while I’m opened up on the table.

Thank you, and I totally see your point and is definitely a concern. However it would be a huge time and cost saver, not having to fly surgeons out.
